A couple of things have been bothering me about my blogs. First, I have too many of them. Two, not enough of a readership to maintain them. Three, I spew most of my nonsense on this blog to begin with.
After much consideration I’m getting rid of most of my blogs. They are gone. Second I’m changing the focus of this blog from a random forum and narrow it solely for news about my writing.
Still I have the need to comment on politics, religion, and current events. In short, I need a place to pontificate freely, without fearing of alienating my core group of followers. As such my exercise blog is gone. My short story blog along with my poem blog are history. They may return in another format, but I have yet to decide. As for my soapbox, I started a new blog, The Soapbox Forum, to post my thoughts of the day.
This will free this blog up to use for my writing. I hope that you will appreciate the change, and in turn maybe that will help me build a stable base. I’m making changes right now, but I officially plan to be up by January 1, 2013. Feel free to check out my new blog and like me on Facebook. At the moment there’s not much there, but I promise to be up by the New Year, if not sooner.
Hi Joe – I empathise with the whole blog focus thing. I wonder if it is that time of year when we reflect on the past and think about the future. My blog is about a year old now and it has meandered without any real focus. Like you, I enjoy a platform to express my views about the world, but also like to share what I’ve learned about writing with others, as well as try to promote my work., And I love guest posts as it always introduces a new perspective. So I end up with a bit of a mish mash, although hopefully an enjoyable one! From January, I will need to take a stricter approach with myself! Good luck with your new strategy.
This blog is nothing but a mish mash. What started out as a diary of sorts morphed into a weird smorgasbord of oddities. From here on out I’m going to narrow my focus to my writing, and to a lesser extent, my life, as it affects my writing.
